Tottenham fans hit out at referee Mike Dean for what they considered to be two mistakes in the build-up to Shkodran Mustafi's opening goal in the north London derby .

Dean felt that Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez fouled Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez despite the defender appearing to get a foot on the ball, and then from the subsequent free-kick Mustafi seemed to be marginally offside as he rose to head home Mesut Ozil's delivery.

There were also question marks over the second goal, with Alexandre Lacazette very close to being offside before he raced through and teed up Arsenal's Sanchez.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville claimed that it wasn't a foul in commentary, adding: "I can understand why the Tottenham coaches will be unhappy with the decision.

"But they will also be unhappy with how their team have played in the first-half.

"There has been a suggestion that Tottenham, against the big teams away from home, have lacked that belief."

Fellow pundit Jamie Redknapp added: "It is a contentious moment and Arsenal get a bit of luck. It is a good piece of defending. It's not a foul.

"He is possibly just offside but Tottenham have got to defend it properly. They have been better in every department."

On Twitter, fans were quick to criticise Dean.

Mustafi and Sanchez's goals ensured Arsenal led 2-0 at half-time, a lead that they held on to until the full-time whistle.
