Mesut Ozil is a doubt for Arsenal's clash with Huddersfield on Wednesday night.

The German sat out the dramatic win over Burnley through illness and Arsene Wenger admitted the visit of Huddersfield may come too soon.

Arsenal host Manchester United on Saturday and Wenger will hope to have Ozil available by then, reports the Manchester Evening News.

"I don’t know, I haven’t even seen him," Wenger replied when asked what was wrong with Ozil. "The doctor came to see me and said he [Ozil] had to travel back home.

"He was in the hotel with us. He travelled up with us, then travelled back. We brought Maitland-Niles up, who arrived at 1 p.m. because we had only 17 players.

"How bad is he? Will he be available for Wednesday? Certainly he will be short [of fitness] for Wednesday [against Huddersfield]. We will have to see what it is exactly."

Arsenal entertain United at 5.30pm on Saturday amid interest in Ozil from Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho and Ozil worked together for three years at Real Madrid and the Germany playmaker has spoken warmly about his former manager, revealing the Portuguese once motivated him by labelling him a 'coward'.

"You think two beautiful passes are enough. You think you're so good that fifty per cent is enough," Mourinho supposedly said to Ozil after a Real match. Ozil recalled tossing his shirt to the floor and Mourinho replied: "Oh, are you giving up now? You're such a coward.

"What do you want? To creep under the beautiful, warm shower? Shampoo your hair? To be alone? Or do you want to prove to your fellow players, the fans out there, and me, what you can do."
