They had very differing experiences in the Europa League on Thursday, and now Everton and Arsenal go head-to-head in domestic combat on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues suffered a miserable defeat at home to Lyon in midweek, but Arsenal's 1-0 win at Red Star Belgrade has pretty much secured qualification for the next stage of European football's second-tier competition.

And so spirits were high when the Gunners took to the training pitches of London Colney on Saturday, with boss Arsene Wenger putting his side through their paces ahead of the trip to Merseyside.

Here's what was going down.

Kind of.

1. As he continues to try and push for a free transfer move in the summer, Mesut Ozil reacted to the news that he'll probably be on the bench again

"What have I done?" (

2. Alexis Sanchez, meanwhile, was having a lovely time

"Must remember to call my agent later" (

3. Until he was briefly distracted by a picture of a dog on a cap

"Hahahaha. Dogs" (

4. And then went off to be a ball boy for a bit

"How long until the summer again?" (

5. Elsewhere, as they prepared to face an Everton side famously devoid of pace, Per Mertesacker was giving his forwards a helping hand

'So this is about how fast Ashley Williams runs these days lads..." (

6. As was Rob Holding

"I'll be Jagielka" (

7. Meanwhile, Jack Wilshere was sure of his role

"Oh, it's a Premier League game is it? No worries. See you next week for the League Cup" (

Arsenal FC)

8. On a cold day in Hertfordshire, Theo Walcott was dressed to battle the elements

Every benchwarmer should have some (

9. Youngster Reiss Nelson wasn't afraid to bare his knees though

You'll never make it like that at Arsenal, son (

10. And Arsene Wenger was coming up with a masterplan

"More balls = ...more goals?" (
