Premier League chiefs have discussed staging Arsenal’s Christmas showdown with Liverpool on a Friday night.

Both the Gunners and the visiting Reds have expressed concerns about it being moved back a day from Saturday 23 to Christmas Eve for Sky Sports’ Super Sunday prime slot.

The current favourite appears to be a 12.30pm kickoff at the Emirates on December 24, to allow Liverpool fans more time to travel home.

But the option of moving it forward to Friday December 22 is also an alternative.

The Christmas schedules are expected to be confirmed later this week.

The other prime games that weekend which are likely to be live on TV are Chelsea’s trip to Everton and Leicester against Manchester United.

They will be spread across the Friday night, Saturday lunchtime and the controversial Christmas Eve slot.
