Arsene Wenger admits he has been impressed with new boy Sead Kolasinac's performances in pre-season.

The left-back arrived at the Emirates from Schalke this summer on a free transfer.

While fellow new boy Alexandre Lacazette has made the headlines, Kolasinac has gone about his business quietly.

He put in a fine display against Benfica in the Emirates Cup on Saturday and has caught Wenger's eye.

"Kolasinac has gone from strength to strength in pre-season," he said.

"Every single week he moved his level up and he was influential against Benfica.

"Kolasinac looks powerful and the timing of his availability looks very good."

Wenger was also asked about the future of Alexis Sanchez after the win on Saturday and is confident the Chilean will stay put.

Wenger said: "Alexis has flu. I had a text yesterday. He will come back as soon as possible.

"There is no development [on his future] - he is staying, of course".

Arsenal take on Sevilla at the Emirates on Sunday as they look to lift the trophy.
