Arsene Wenger says he would “encourage” Gareth Southgate to include Jack Wilshere in his England squad.

Wenger insists midfielder Wilshere is ready for a recall to the Three Lions squad having regained fitness and form this season.

Southgate names his squad for the Wembley friendlies against Germany and Brazil on Thursday.

Wilshere, 25, has yes to start a league game for the Gunners this season, his only appearance coming as a late sub in the 5-2 win against Everton.

But he has impressed in the starts he has had in the Europa League and EFL Cup.

Wilshere has not been included in an England squad since November 2016 and Southgate was denied the chance to run the rule over him when he didn't come off the bench against Swansea on Saturday.

But Wenger said: “I think he is ready. He was not three weeks ago but he is today.

“I have the same problem, but in every single competition he is ready to play. I would encourage him (Southgate) to do it.

“A super fit Jack I don't know how you can keep him out of the England squad.

“He doesn't need to be specially treated. I manage him at the moment like every single player. Since three weeks he is completely treated like every other player.”
