The Carabao Cup's third round is being held in Beijing, China - yes, China - in the wee hours of this morning.

The truly bizarre timing of the event is tempered by the fact that we'll be finding out which teams have landed last year's seven best teams in the UK.

The brave and bleary-eyed can follow all the updates here as the 25 winners from round two, plus the sides who qualified for European football last season, go into the hat.

Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Manchester United are all in the draw from 11.15am (Beijing time), which is 4.15am.

Follow it live here.

Newcastle beaten in extra-time!

It’s three defeats out of three for Newcastle – after Tyler Walker’s winner stunned Rafa Benitez.

The Toon boss made 10 changes playing a virtual second-string side who are mostly up for sale.

And Forest cashed in with a deserved win after some aggressive, positive attacking play capped by sub Walker’s extra-time winner.

It has been a miserable start to the new campaign by Benitez’s side.

Any other manager in recent times would be under the cosh, especially after not targeting the cup – their only realistic chance of winning anything. But he has credit in the bank with the Geordie fans.

A four-goal first half started with Aleksandar Mitrovic getting United’s opening goal of the season.

Ugly scenes as Burnley's Ashley Westwood grapples with a Blackburn fan

Jack Cork was attacked by an invading Blackburn fan in the Lancashire derby grudge match at Ewood Park.

The Burnley midfielder was celebrating his opener in Burnley’s 2-0 win over their bitter local rivals when the thug raced onto the pitch and grabbed him by the throat.

But the pitch invader got a shock when players from both teams turned on him and wrestled him to the ground.

The stewards were initially quite slow to react, but pictures showed a steward wrestling the man to the ground moments later before escorting him off the pitch.

There was an increased police presence ahead of the game at Ewood Park due to the two sides’ close geographical location and strong rivalry.

A Burnley supporters’ bus was hit with bricks as it made its way to Blackburn, and some away fans were seen setting off flares inside the stadium
