Chelsea fans hope their team are paired with Bayer Leverkusen in Monday’s Champions League Last 16 draw in Nyon – but manager Jose Mourinho disagrees.

The Special One would prefer to draw Paris St Germain, a seemingly much tougher proposition but one which would suit the west Londoners' boss better.

In a recent fans poll on Mirror Football, the German side were the most popular pick, but Mourinho said after the weekend win over Hull City: “We don’t have much choice – there are only five possibilities – but to make it easy for everybody, I would say Paris Saint-Germain.

“It’s easy for us to travel, easy for the fans to travel and they won’t have to spend a lot of money to go there.

“They are a very good team and I would prefer a really good team, which will motivate the boys.

“So, if I could choose, I would say Paris.”

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hopes his side are drawn against his former club Monaco.

The Gunners have been unlucky at this stage in the past two seasons, drawing – and losing to – Bayern Munich on both occasions. Unsurprisingly, their manager is keen to avoid a hat-trick.

“We don’t want Bayern Munich and I’m sure they don’t want us,” said Wenger. “We’ve never had an easy ride. I don’t think many teams want Madrid.

“I’m not against drawing Monaco at all because it would be a visit to my first home there. Of course I would love to go there.

"I’ve got great memories of Monaco because they gave me a chance when I was a very young manager. We played many Champions League games there as well.

“When I arrived there, they had never passed the first round in the European Cup so we have good memories. It is a fantastic place. That would be good.”

Manchester City’s Spanish ace David Silva is hoping to avoid the teams from his homeland.

City have an evens chance of landing Real Madrid, Barcelona or Atletico Madrid – but Silva does not want any of them.

Instead, he will be praying that one of Monaco, Porto or Borussia Dortmund will come out of the hat.

As a group runner-up, the Manchester Blues have to play a group winner, and will be at home in the first leg.

Like Arsenal, they cannot get Chelsea as rthey are another English club. German giants Bayern Munich aren't a possibiity either, as they played them in the group.

Silva is in no doubt that the La Liga outfits are the ones to avoid.

He said: “I prefer anyone else! I don’t want anyone of them. The later you play a Spanish team, the better, no?

“Every team that gets through now, they’re difficult. No matter who we get, we have to be 100 per cent, and have to get a little luck too.”
