Chelsea have dropped David Luiz for the visit of Manchester United this afternoon.

The Brazilian struggled in midweek as the Blues shipped three at Roma, becoming the first English side to lose in the Champions League this season.

Antonio Conte's side have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight matches in all competitions, a far cry from the defensive solidity that saw them blaze a trail to the Premier League title last season.

Luiz has started eight of Chelsea's 10 league games so far this season, as well as three of their four matches in Europe, scoring twice.

But Andreas Christensen will take his place in the side this afternoon.

Jose Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge with his United side, and if he is victorious, the Blues could be as many as 12 points off the pace in the title race.

After the Roma defeat, Conte said: “It’s right to suffer. After a defeat like that, you have to suffer. For sure, I’m a coach who doesn’t like to find excuses or alibis. Sometimes I prefer to put all the mistakes in my face.

“The way I suffer after a defeat is not for all, because I suffer. I suffer. I don’t like the defeats. I try, also, to transfer my suffering to my players.

“Sometimes I am able to do this. We always have meetings. After a win, after a defeat. Then we try to watch positive situations, negative situations, and then to try together to solve the situation."
