Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs are not short of a few quid and seem happy to share the wealth.

The former Manchester United trio own shares in non-league Salford City, along with fellow Class of '92 heroes Phil Neville and Nicky Butt.

The United legends are making big strides towards the Football League with Salford after two promotions in the last three seasons and are currently top of the Conference North.

Their 5,000 capacity Moor Lane home has been completely renovated recently ready for professional football and was officially opened by Sir Alex Ferguson last week.

And to celebrate the fresh lick of paint, the Ammies welcome Alfreton Town to The Peninsula Stadium on Saturday and are throwing open the doors to the world for free.

Sixth tier Salford wrote on their club website: "Following the official opening of The Peninsula Stadium by Sir Alex Ferguson CBE, Salford City Football Club are pleased to announce that supporters will be admitted to Saturday’s home game free of charge.

"In the event of the stadium capacity being reached the turnstiles will be closed for all but season ticket holders."
