Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has declared that it is "impossible to win the title" after witnessing his side's 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.

The Eagles claimed a 1-0 win over the title-chasing Blues at Selhurst Park thanks to a John Terry own goal.

And Mourinho, whose side still lead the Premier League by a point - although Liverpool have one game in hand and Manchester City three - conceded that the west London club's title chances are now over after a second successive away defeat.

"Now we have lost our chance of finishing first," said the Blues manager.

"Now we depend too much on other results. Now, it is impossible to win the title.

"Crystal Palace deserved the victory, they fought for their lives. We had good chances and their goalkeeper made some good saves in the first half.

"But their [Palace's] spirit was stronger, their desire was stronger and their commitment was stronger. That disappoints me, but it's a defeat that we can only blame ourselves for."

And Mourinho openly questioned whether he has the type of players who can match skill with physicality, when asked by physically imposing sides.

"Some of our players are not comfortable in these types of matches, like Stoke away, Newcastle away and Everton away," explained Mourinho.

"Can I change this? I don't know.

"My defenders are phenomenal, but in other positions we have players that can be in trouble."

And Mourinho also gave his thoughts on an altercation with a ball-boy late during injury-time, after the youngster took his time in returning the ball to Cesar Azpilicueta.

"It is not right to educate kids to do that," said Mourinho.

"I went to stop Azpi [Azpilicueta]. I was afraid he would lose control of his emotions and push the kid or do something like Eden [Hazard] did last year at Swansea. I told the boy to not do that."
