David Luiz appeared to be in a jolly mood as he left Chelsea's training ground after being dropped for his side's 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

The Blues centre-back watched the action from the Stamford Bridge stands as Alvaro Morata headed home in the second half to win the game for Chelsea.

Antonio Conte played down his decision to snub the Brazilian, suggesting he was rotating his team for the fixture after defeat in the Champions League.

"It's only a tactical decision, only a tactical decision, only a tactical decision," the Italian told Sky Sports. " He has to work really hard otherwise they are on the bench or in the stand.

"It's normal. This can happen to every one of my players, if I see that they are not in good form. I have to put my face in every situation, and then to sometimes make important decisions.

"Today I did this and I think Christensen played a massive game. I was very happy for this. I must take the best decision for the club, not for a single player. Sometimes I can make mistakes. Sometimes I can do the best things for my team."

It was later reported that there had been a dispute between the duo after Luiz alleged questioned his manager's tactics in the week.

It is claimed that this is what led to Luiz being axed for the weekend's fixture.

Conte also announced he is unsure whether the Brazilian has a future at the club, telling Sky Sports: "He has to work really hard with the others, otherwise they are on the bench or in the stand."

But amid the apparent turmoil, Luiz appeared to be in a happy mood as he met up with his super-fan outside Cobham.

He posed for pictures with the Chelsea supporter - who is routinely spotted hanging around the training ground and club to see his hero - which he later uploaded to Instagram.

Alongside one image he wrote: "Life is great! Thank you and all my fans."
