Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte are set for another showdown — over the Paris Saint-Germain job.

The feuding Premier League rivals are top of the French title race leaders’ wish-list for this summer.

PSG are considering axing current coach Unai Emery at the end of the season and bringing in a big-name to replace him.

Mourinho’s Manchester United current contract and Conte’s at Chelsea both expire in 2019 and the pair have insisted they intend to see out those deals.

There is an option in Mourinho’s deal to extend it to 2020 and he has also held talks about signing a new deal to stay beyond even then.

But that hasn’t put off PSG, who are continuing to monitor both managers’ situations while doubts about their long term futures persist.

And, of the two, Mirror Sport understands there is a quiet confidence in Conte’s camp that, should he leave Chelsea, he would be in pole position for the role in Paris.

Conte is the fourth Italian manager to work under Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and two of his countryman would be among the contenders to replace him — Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri and Max Allegri of Juventus.

Sarri has transformed Napoli into one of Europe’s most attractive sides and Serie A leaders, while Allegri has won three successive Italian league and cup doubles and reached two Champions League finals since replacing Conte at Juventus in 2014.

Meanwhile, sources in Madrid insist any move for another possible summer target by either PSG and Chelsea, Diego Simeone, would be unsuccessful.

Atletico Madrid re-signed Diego Costa from Chelsea in September after Simeone promised he would still be in charge next season, and the Argentinean coach went on to underline his commitment by signing a new deal until 2020.

The possibility of a head-to-head between Mourinho and Conte for the PSG job adds intrigue to their explosive fallout.

They have been locked in a bitter war-of-words which began last season when Mourinho accused Conte of humiliating him with his celebrations when Chelsea hammered United 4-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Since then they have traded verbal blows and their row escalated last week.

Mourinho appeared to take a swipe at animated bosses like Conte when he said he didn’t “behave like a clown on the touchline.”

Conte accused Mourinho of acting like he was suffering from “demenza senile”, Mourinho hit back with match fixing jibe before Conte branded his opposite number a “little man” and insisted this week that he had no regrets over the spat.

He added: “He said serious words, he has used serious words. And I won’t forget this.”

Chelsea go to Old Trafford in the Premier League on February 25 (unless Conte's semi-finalist Blues are playing in the Carabao Cup final that day).
