Frank De Boer must win at Burnley next week to save his Crystal Palace job.

The Dutchman has lost his first three matches and feared being sacked at a key meeting with club owners on Friday.

De Boer remains in his job, but was given no assurances that he has a long-term future at the South London side.

He now faces the prospect of having to win at Turf Moor next Sunday.

The reason that chairman Steve Parish is allowing the Dutchman to carry on so far is because it was he who requested a continental playing style from De Boer when he gave him the job.

In the first few weeks of the season, it has become clear that De Boer cannot introduce a passing game at a club which has always played in a very direct way.

De Boer was allowed only one signing in his first month at Crystal Palace.

The Eagles signed Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool for £27million before the window closed.
