Gareth Bale provided Real Madrid with an injury scare as he limped out of Los Blancos training ahead of their UEFA Super Cup clash with Manchester United next week.

The Welshman looked in some discomfort as he pointed to his ankle training in the States as Real prepare to take on MLS All Stars.

Bale has been plagued by a succession of injuries over the last 12 months as Real completed a league and Champions League double last term.

He made just 17 starts in La Liga and was on the bench in Cardiff as Real beat Juventus in Bale's home country in the European final.

Bale has had calf, back, knee and ankle problems, but boss Zinedine Zidane has moved to play down any major worry.

"He looks good to me, little by little," he told a news conference. "He's had a long injury.

"The pre-season has been very good since the beginning. I'm not worried about his performance, because the whole team has had good moments and not as good moments."

Real and United will face off having already played each other in pre-season as the winners of Europe's two flagship competitions meet in Macedonia next Tuesday.
