Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne are the leading candidates for September’s Premier League player of the month award.

Kane and the Belgian pair are joined by Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata, Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles, Manchester United hitman Romelu Lukaku and Brighton’s Pascal Gross on a seven-man shortlist.

Spurs and England star Kane enjoyed a stellar month as Mauricio Pochettino’s men remained unbeaten, with the striker bagging six league goals - more than anyone else.

Kane bagged twice in three of Spurs four matches, as they took 10 points from a possible 12.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was vital to the league leaders’ excellent month, in which Pep Guardiola’s men took maximum points.

Aguero missed the win at Chelsea, but in City’s other three games the Argentine showed his class with five goals and three assists.

His teammate De Bruyne, who scored the winner at former employers Chelsea on September 30, also bagged three assists.

Both Lukaku and Morata scored three times, with the latter bagging a goal every 76 minutes as he continues to thrive in English football after his arrival from Real Madrid.

Newcastle’s Jamaal Lascelles scored two match-winning goals and was defensively excellent, as Rafa Benitez’s men conceded just twice.

Brighton’s German playmaker Gross was involved in all four of the Seagulls goals, scoring two and assisting the others.
