Breaking down is every motorist's worst nightmare, but whenever it happens you just hope that there are friendly people around to help.

And thankfully for Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher, that was the case on Sunday morning.

Fresh from commentary duties on the dull goalless draw between Liverpool and Manchester United on Saturday, the former defender appeared to be on his way to watch his son play football when disaster struck.

But thankfully for Carra, he had a helper on his side in the form of "the guy from the garage."

As seen in Carragher's tweet below, the former defender was helped out by a man who appears to be a BP employee judging by his t-shirt, who seemed only too happy to step in and ferry him to his son's game.

Carragher took a photo to mark the occasion, and tweeted: "When you break down & the guy from the garage says he'll take you to you sons football!"

The tweet quickly wrapped up almost 6,500 favourites at the time of writing, with fans praising the anonymous hero.

What a hero!
