Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is facing a selection headache ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Manchester City .

The Reds have already confirmed that Philippe Coutinho will not be in the squad for the trip to the Etihad Stadium, despite the Brazilian returning to first team training this week.

They will have new £40million man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain available for the first time since his move from Arsenal though, and Klopp must decide whether to bring the England international straight into his starting eleven.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have all started the new season in red-hot form as a deadly front three, but there could be a change to the system should Oxlade-Chamberlain be drafted into the side.

Here is how the Reds could potentially lineup against Pep Guardiola's side.

4-3-3

Klopp could stick with the same system that has seen Liverpool pick up seven points from their first three game and secure their place in the Champions League group stage.

The attacking lineup would cause all sorts of problems for City's defence, which is still yet to entirely convince despite nearly £130 million being spent on full-backs and it would be harsh to drop any of the side that produced such a scintillating performance against Arsenal before the international break.

It would mean no space in the side for new boy Oxlade-Chamberlain, but with no obvious need to change anything it would be a surprise if Klopp opted to tinker with a winning formula.

Possible team: Mignolet; Gomez, Matip, Lovren, Moreno; Can, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane.

4-2-3-1

This is the system where Oxlade-Chamberlain could come in and play in his favoured central midfield role, with Emre Can and Jordan Henderson possibly sitting deeper to give him more freedom in the middle of the park.

That would mean Georginio Wijnaldum making way, but with the Dutch international sometimes going missing away from home Klopp could be tempted to bring in Oxlade-Chamberlain in the position many thought Coutinho would come into.

Two holding midfielders against City's wealth of world class attacking options could also make 4-2-3-1 an appealing option to the Reds boss this weekend.

Possible team: Mignolet; Gomez, Matip, Lovren, Moreno; Henderson, Can; Salah, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mane; Firmino.

3-4-3

Going three at the back would be a brave move against the likes of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, but it would arguably make Liverpool even more of a threat going forward with Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alberto Moreno potential candidates to take the wing-back roles.

Klopp opted for three at the back son several occasions last season, often deploying Emre Can as a makeshift centre back but with the German international starting the season so strongly it would be more likely that Wijnaldum made way and Ragnar Klavan promoted to the starting lineup.

Probably the least likely to happen out of the options Klopp has at his disposal, but it would certainly be the most adventurous if Liverpool set out to take the game to City.

Possible team: Mignolet; Klavan, Lovren, Matip; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Henderson, Can, Moreno; Salah, Firmino, Mane.
