Thursday night was a good night for Jack Wilshere .

After being given just a third appearance of the season by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger in the Europa League clash at BATE Borisov, the midfielder turned in a fine performance in a 4-2 win for the Gunners, setting up the opening goal for Theo Walcott and generally running the midfield.

For many Gunners fans it was a welcome throwback to the days when Wilshere was considered to be the future of both the Arsenal and England teams, and the praise for his display was everywhere during the game .

And - so good was his performance - there are now calls from fans for Wilshere to be introduced into Arsenal's Premier League team.

He hasn't played a league game for the Gunners in 13 months, but fans are suggesting that he could replace Granit Xhaka in side, with the Swiss turning in a series of underwhelming displays of late.

Speaking on BT Sport, former Arsenal defender Martin Keown suggested that it was a switch Wenger could make, and fans were tweeting about it in their droves.

So with the Gunners hosting Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday, will it be a change Wenger is tempted to make?
