Jose Mourinho has claimed Antonio Valencia has suffered a 'December injury'.

The Manchester United full-back went off after clutching his hamstring during the second-half of the 2-1 victory over West Brom.

Valencia has played in all 18 Premier League games for Jose Mourinho's side this term and started his fifth match of December at the Hawthorns.

And the United boss admits the amount of games has caught up on his stand-in skipper.

“It is a December injury. Everyone is at risk because of the accumulation, It is normal," he said.

On the victory, he added: "I think we deserved the win. We were the best team. I knew and the players knew that West Brom is very dangerous on set-pieces.

"We controlled the game for a long, long time, then manager Alan Pardew reacts. We had a few chances to kill the game but I knew they would react.

"The intensity in the first half maybe we didn't have in the second half.

"West Brom are really powerful in the air. But after their goal we controlled the game again.
