Jose Mourinho believes he kick-started Real Madrid's recent success following his three-year managerial spell at the club.

The Manchester United boss won La Liga and the Copa del Rey while he was in charge, and says he left 'Madrid ready to explode'.

In the four years following Mourinho's departure, Los Blancos have won one La Liga title, one Copa del Rey and three Champions League trophies.

In an interview with Sport & Style , the Portuguese says he leaves clubs how he would like to join them, and that he's doing exactly that at Manchester United now.

"I would have liked to arrive at Real Madrid at the moment I left it," Mourinho told Sport & Style.

"I would like to land at Manchester United just when I decide to leave, what for? To catch a coach team for Mourinho ... A dream!"

"When I left, Madrid was ready to explode, and that's when they really started to win, especially against Barcelona ... I'm a constructor, a football mason."
