Jose Mourinho has had another dig at Manchester United fans ahead of tonight's Champions League tie with Benfica.

Mourinho accused sections of United fans of not showing striker Romelu Lukaku enough support during Saturday's hard-fought 1-0 win over Tottenham.

The United boss detected a mood of discontent with Lukaku from the stands and hailed the £75million forward as "untouchable", claiming he should be immune from criticism.

But Mourinho has gone a step further with a fresh swipe at his own fans, in his programme notes in United Review for tonight's game against Benfica.

In what amounts to a blatant jibe at sections of United's support, Mourinho wrote: "I hope that you enjoy the game more than some of you did against Tottenham."

There is a growing feeling among some fans that Mourinho had already become tired of managing United and is positioning himself for an early exit from Old Trafford.

Mourinho has already declared United will not be his last job in football.

He openly flirted with Paris Saint-Germain in an interview with French TV, lavishing praise on the project there, amid growing suggestions he wants to manage them.
