Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy has showed off his gruesome scars as he continues his injury rehab from a ruptured cruciate knee ligament injury he suffered against Crystal Palace.

Mendy was hoping to showcase his talents in the Premier League following his £52million move from Monaco.

But the French full-back is now facing a major battle to play again this season after he suffered a knee injury during the 5-0 win over the Eagles last month.

Mendy has undergone surgery in Spain, but his leg is now out of a cast and he has taken to social media to show fans the extent of his injury.

The 23-year-old, speaking on his Instragram account, said: 'How happy I am to be able to scratch my scar.'

Mendy also took a picture of himself on crutches outside the physiotherapy centre saying: 'The hard work starts here.'

The talented left-back is now relaxing in Barcelona and can been seen sunbathing as he faces the long road back to full fitness.

Mendy is expected to be sidelined until at least April and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will move for another left-back in January because he has no recognised cover for the Frenchman.

Guardiola deployed Fabian Delph as a makeshift left-back against Shakhtar Donetsk and Danilo is his only other realistic alternative.
