Jose Mourinho has described Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a gift for his young players after signing on a free transfer for the Manchester United .

The Portuguese believes Ibrahimovic can positively influence Marcus Rashford after his breakthrough last season.

Rashford stormed on to the scene last term with five Premier League goals in 11 appearances before an England call-up for Euro 2016 and Mourinho believes Ibrahimovic can help his progress yet further.

"He [Ibrahimovic] is brilliant with the young boys," Mourinho told BT Sport. "I think, for Rashford, this is a gift.

"People can say he is not going to play every game from the start, like in the second part of last season, but this is a gift for the kid, too.

"We are so happy to have him. We couldn't find a better striker than him to give us the stability we need."

Ibrahimovic scored his first competitive goal for the Red Devils in the Community Shield against Leicester and will look to replicate last season's haul of 50 goals in all competitions.

Rashford's playing time will be limited in comparison to his time under Louis Van Gaal, though Mourinho appears keen to use him regularly.
