Jose Mourinho will be pretty content with his summer.

Manchester United have splashed over £140million on new arrivals in the transfer window - including landing the most expensive signing in the Premier League this year in Romelu Lukaku.

And that proved to be all she wrote, as United did not complete any final deals on the final day of business.

There was a suggestion that Mourinho could move for Willian from Chelsea, but it proved to be nothing more than a rumour.

Recap over all of United's Deadline Day action here.

Major ins: Romelu Lukaku (£75m, Everton), Nemanja Matic (£40m, Chelsea), Victor Lindelof (£31m, Benfica)

Major outs: Wayne Rooney (free, Everton), Adnan Januzaj (£9m, Real Sociedad)

PSG get Mbappe

It’s fairly quiet on here tonight, but here’s a tenuous link to help pass the time before 11pm.

Manchester United were sniffing about Kylian Mbappe earlier in the window, but any slim hopes of him joining are all over, after Paris Saint-Germain landed the Monaco starlet on an initial loan deal, with the option to sign permanently.

Willian links emerge again - and Chelsea fans aren't happy

Chelsea fans have been sent into meltdown on social media amid suggestions that Manchester United could move for one of their star players.

United have already poached Nemanja Matic from Chelsea , while Romelu Lukaku opted for a move to Old Trafford as oppose to a return to his former club.

Now, there are claims Mourinho made a late, audacious bid for Willian on deadline day, report the Manchester Evening News.

Although the United manager is a fan of the Brazilian, and United tried to sign him last summer, all sources at the club continue to expect a quiet end to the window.

But that hasn’t stopped Chelsea fans from experiencing an internet meltdown at the idea their former manager could snatch a second first-teamer from Stamford Bridge.

Former United target Sancho completes move

Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Jadon Sancho from Manchester City for a fee believed to be around £170,000.

City have succeeded in keeping the 17-year-old away from their Premier League rivals including Manchester United, though it remains a big blow to lose such a special talent.

Sporting director Michael Zorc could not hide his delight at pulling off the deal for one of Europe’s most exciting young players.

“We are very pleased that Jadon Sancho, who is currently one of the greatest talents in European football, will definitely want to play at BVB,” Zorc said.

“We are convinced that we can help this very young player continue to develop his game and become a real enrichment for our team in the medium term.”

So, Renato Sanches.

Could have been United’s 15 months ago.

Now he’s in the Premier League at Swansea!

What’s happened there you ask?

Let us explain...

Transfer dealings are thin on the ground at Old Trafford right now.

Matty Willock left. About it.

So why not vote for the club’s official player of the month?

Personally, I’d go Phil Jones.

Finally showing why Sir Alex Ferguson rated him so highly.

Dortmund agree deal for Sancho

But the Man City kid is heading to Germany.

New deal for ex-United defender

Ryan Shawcross has signed a new four-year deal at Stoke - as Bojan leaves again to join Alaves on loan.

Shawcross, 29, has ended the uncertainty over his Potters future by committing himself to the bet365 Stadium until 2021.

Contract talks between Stoke and Shawcross had dragged on for months and the centre-half had entered the final year of his current deal.

Boss Mark Hughes will be delighted Shawcross has signed and his backline has a formidable look about it again following the summer signings of Kevin Wimmer and Bruno Martins Indi, plus Kurt Zouma on loan.

Pereira 'staying put'

Local Valencia newspaper Plaza Deportiva claims Andreas Pereira won’t be heading to Los Che on loan.

They reckon Mourinho has shelved it as he’s part of the club’s first-team plans.

Will he get enough game time at Old Trafford though?

Biggest ever deadline day deals

The transfer deadline is just hours away, but will there be any shock deals taking place like in years gone by?

Cast your mind back to 2011, when Liverpool and Chelsea collectively splurged more than £100million with just hours to go of the January transfer window.

And we can’t forget the summer of 2008, when Manchester City tried - and failed - to snatch Dimitar Berbatov away from Manchester United’s claws before settling for just the one deadline day signing, Brazilian starlet Robinho , instead.

So far this window, the biggest deal has been Romelu Lukaku joining Manchester United for £75million. Will that be beaten today?

Of that we can’t be sure, but while we wait to find out, let’s take a look at the Premier League’s most expensive EVER deadline day deals...

Check them all out here

Riyad Mahrez has left the Algeria camp to sort out a deadline day move.

L’Equipe is reporting his camp are in discussions with Barcelona, Chelsea and Tottenham.

Now Wolves are keen on taking him to Molineux, having allowed Dave Edwards to join Reading at the weekend.

Manchester United 'submit £50m offer' for Real Madrid superstar

Manchester United were thought to have done their business this summer, but Jose Mourinho may still pull a rabbit out the hat.

That’s because the Red Devils have reportedly tabled a £50m offer for Marco Asensio with Diario Gol claiming the Real Madrid youngster and Gareth Bale are of great interest to United.

Asensio’s buy-out clause is tantalisingly set at £74m, low enough to trigger without a thought if the player can be convinced of a move.

Los Blancos are now frantically trying to raise that figure to £552m with contract talks planned.

United will hope to take advantage of the situation by moving for whichever player fails to hold down a first team place in Zinedine Zidane’s side.

Welcome!

Jose Mourinho was keen to add more quality to his squad this summer - and got exactly what he asked for.

In completing a deal for Romelu Lukaku, Manchester United completed the most expensive Premier League deal of summer 2017.

The Belgian international joined from Everton in a deal worth £75million.

He wasn’t to be the only arrival, however, with Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof completing their moves to Old Trafford for combined £71million.

And there was the small matter of securing Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to the team for the second half of the season.

There were a few outgoings from the squad, as former captain Wayne Rooney returned to Everton, his boyhood club.

Adnan Januzaj, who had previously shown great potential during the David Moyes era, has been moved on to Real Sociedad, while plenty of loan deals have also been completed.

So, that brings us to today: the final day of business this summer.

Stick with us throughout the day as we bring you all of the news, gossip and more as it happens.
