James Wilson has been named in Manchester United's squad for the Champions League, and it seems Red Devils fans are a little surprised by his selection.

The 21-year-old has only represented United a handful of times in an area of the field that Jose Mourinho has a number of options.

Wilson has also been out with a knee injury, but will be in contention to play in United's games against Basel, Benfica and CSKA Moscow.

The youngster's inclusion suggests the wily Portuguese has a lot of faith in his abilities, although he'll be up against it trying to stake his claim to the first team.

Veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has re-signed for Man United for another season, has also been included in the squad.

The 35-year-old is continuing his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury, but could be back in contention for United in January.

Other forwards include Romelu Lukaku, who will have to have a spectacular dip in form to lose his place in the first team after a stunning start to the season.

And Marcus Rashford, who has been going from strength to strength for both club and country, clearly benefiting from his run in the first team.

But this might just be the perfect opportunity for Wilson to show the world what he can do, should he get the nod as part of Mourinho's rotation.

That doesn't mean to say United fans aren't a little shocked to see him in the team.
