Manchester United will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they take on FC Basel in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils' perfect start to the season came to an end at the weekend when they were held to a 2-2 draw at Stoke City.

It was also the first goals Jose Mourinho's men had conceded this term and the Special One will be looking for an improved performance when they entertain the Swiss side at Old Trafford.

United will have to do without the suspended Eric Bailly and Phil Jones, but Mourinho has confirmed Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling will start.

De Gea: I'm aiming to be the best goalkeeper in the world

I train hard to improve, I work really hard in training to be the best keeper in the world.

I don’t know who is the best in the world at the moment, but this is what I want - to be the best.

De Gea: It was hard to watch the Champions League from home

It was hard to watch the Champions League from the TV.

A club like Manchester United not to be in those games was hard.

Now we are back and really motivated to win Champions League games. We need to play our best football to win these games.

Dea Gea: It wasn't the save of my career

No, I have made great saves all of my career. It was a bit sad when Stoke scored after that [from the resulting corner] but yes, it was a great save.

Mourinho aims shot at Premier League

We have no winter break, and in other countries there is a winter break, but that’s cultural - it means a lot, and I have to admit I love it.

I know that goes against us but I have to admit I love the English Christmas period for football and the fact we have to play many times with two days before the big matches in Europe, while other countries protect their clubs.

Mourinho: United belong in the Champions League

Being back in the Champions League is going back to the natural habitat. Manchester United [have been there] season after season.

For some players there’s the motivation of playing in it for the first time, so we look forward to the match and I hope also Old Trafford feels it in the same way we are feeling.

Mourinho confident

We’re strong, playing well and have confidence in ourselves.

It’s a difficult game tomorrow but we have the quality to win.

Mourinho has warning for Jones and Bailly

There are reasons for the other boys to be worried because Victor is a very good player.

Mourinho: I need Fellaini

I feel weaker without Fellaini in my squad, doesn’t matter if it’s on the pitch or on the bench.

If his conditions are improved, he will be selected, I need him.

Mourinho on De Boer

Mourinho has reacted to the news one of his colleagues, Frank De Boer, has lost his job at Crystal Palace.

That’s the world where we are, world where many of you enjoy and also contribute the kind of pressure managers involved.

Man United team news

More Man United team news as Mourinho is not prepared to make Sergio Romero his cup goalkeeper this season.

Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are suspended, meaning Smalling will partner Lindelof on debut.

“Even if [Eric] Bailly and [Phil] Jones were not suspended, probably I would still play Lindelof and Smalling tomorrow. They are at the same level, they are just different players.”

Mourinho to give Lindelof debut in UCL

I think it is easier for him to play in the Champions League. No need to adapt, he needs a little bit of time to adapt to the Premier League.

Mourinho on Fellaini

He’s an important player for me - a lot more important than you can imagine.

The Belgian has a calf problem and remains a doubt for Basel.

Man United fans outraged as Garth Crooks slams Paul Pogba over his HAIR - 'He behaves like an adolescent!'

Manchester United fans have reacted negatively to Garth Crooks slamming their £90million man Paul Pogba.

The BBC pundit accused the France international of behaving like an “adolescent”, adding that he should attract attention to himself with good performances, not “cheap gimmicks and marketing tricks”.

Pogba is known to chop and change his hairstyle regularly, and often sports colourful designs.

But he has also hit the ground running for Man United this season, scoring twice and assisting just as many, as the Red Devils have made the Premier League’s top spot their own.

And Reds fans think Crooks’ comments are off the mark.

“I also want to discuss Paul Pogba’s new hairstyle,” Crooks said on the BBC.

“Which features a red streak. I only mention it because he clearly wants to bring it to our attention.

Matic: I'm excited for the Old Trafford atmosphere

The Champions League is such an important competition, it allows you to play against some of the best teams in Europe, so it’s going to be great for us.

We have to recover well from Stoke and try to win on Tuesday. Of course, I’m very, very excited for the atmosphere inside Old Trafford.

It’s always nice to play in front of over 70,000 people and I expect it will be a great night and a great game for us.

Matic fires warning

Nemanja Matic warned Manchester United must win matches like Saturday’s draw at Stoke, if they are to be champions.

The Red Devils dropped points for the first time this season as they drew 2-2 at the Bet365 Stadium.

United return to Premier League action against Everton next weekend and Matic is eager for a response, reports the Manchester Evening News.

“It was a tough game. To be honest, it’s always a tough game when you come to this stadium,” he told MUTV.

“Stoke are a good team, so it was difficult, but we managed to get a point.

“If we want to be champions, we have to win games like this because in these games, if you win, you are champion.

“We have to know against teams like this you have to have a little bit more, you have to be concentrated and of course we’re not happy with a point.

“It’s always important if you can come from behind, and I think we showed spirit. We had the lead in the second half but they scored a goal from the corner kick.”
