Liverpool picked up their first win in Group E with a 7-0 thrashing in Slovenia.

Jurgen Klopp's men had drawn their two matches against Sevilla and Spartak Moscow but this one was never in doubt after Roberto Firmino's fourth-minute opener.

Maribor couldn't cope with their opponents and it wasn't too long until Philippe Coutinho added a second.

Mohamed Salah made it three on 19 minutes and grabbed Liverpool's fourth before the break.

The excellent Firmino then glanced in number five as the Reds romped to victory before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Trent Alexander-Arnold got in on the act late on.

Here are the key talking points.

1. Firmino's perfect start

After being denied entry to the stadium, Roberto Firmino ensured it would be a night to remember for the right reasons.

The Brazilian forgot his ID as he tried to get into the ground but it was a Maribor mishap that led to the opener.

Viler and Suler got themselves into a right mess trying to play at the back and Liverpool made them pay.

Salah nicked in and once he had found Firmino, there was only going to be one outcome.

A much-need goal for Liverpool's No.9 which opened the floodgates.

2. Coutinho's away day joy continues

After a difficult summer, on and off the pitch, Philippe Coutinho is now back to the level we expect.

And his first-half strike in Slovenia continued an impressive run of scoring in four consecutive away games.

It was a decent finish too, firing home from James Milner's cross.

With Sadio Mane out, Coutinho looks set to be used from the left in the coming weeks and Liverpool fans will be hopeful of more of the same.

3. No way to stop speedy Salah

Maribor simply couldn't live with Liverpool early on - and in particular Mohamed Salah.

He had so much joy down the right against the lumbering Suler and it was no surprise to see him get on the scoresheet.

The Egyptian is in fine form at the moment and his pace provides an extra dimension to the Liverpool attack.

He will be even more important with Mane sidelined, too - and was given a rest ahead of the trip to Spurs before the hour mark.

4. Can shines in the 6

With Jordan Henderson given a night off, Emre Can was dropped into a holding role.

Liverpool's domination meant he didn't have too much to do from a defensive perspective but he barely wasted a pass.

Some Reds fans believe the German should start in the role ahead of skipper Henderson and it may be where his future lies.

Klopp's selection also gave James Milner a rare opportunity and he provided a reminder that he still has plenty to offer.

5. Bring on the Anfield reverse

The one-sided encounter ended 7-0 but it could have been 10.

And it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect a cricket score at Anfield in a fortnight.

You can't see Maribor coming out to attack like they did here but Liverpool will fancy filling their boots again.

Another big win and they'll have one foot in the last 16.
