Mauricio Pochettino reckons Harry Kane is better than Cristiano Ronaldo after his stunning Champions League hat-trick.

The Tottenham boss suggested Kane being eight years younger than Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo, 32, could give him an edge.

Pochettino hailed “killer” Kane once again after his perfect treble - his sixth hat-trick of 2017 - earned Spurs a 3-0 win at APOEL Nicosia.

He said: “Cristiano is fantastic one of the best, Harry is one of the best and maybe better because he is young but I cannot talk about that because both are fantastic, the kind of players you want in your team.

“Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo in the same team. Why do you have to choose?

“Harry has something special in front of the goal and that is why he’s one of the best.

“All the strikers who are at this level have something special. They are killers. Harry has this special skill.”

Kane scored with his left foot, right foot then head to earn Spurs a second successive Group H win after their opening victory against Borussia Dortmund a fortnight ago.

And Pochettino’s belief in Kane will be put to the test when Spurs face Ronaldo’s Madrid in their next two Champions League games.

Pochettino joked that he was “in love” with Kane after he scored twice in Saturday’s 3-2 win at West Ham and he added: “He is one of the best but I don’t want to keep using the same words to describe him.

“My wife is so jealous and his wife too. He’s unbelievable. He’s Harry Kane.”
