Spidercam will be making a return to Old Trafford for the Manchester derby this weekend to ensure the grudge match is captured from as many different camera angles as possible.

The birds-eye view technology made its debut all the way back in January, in Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

It was later on display at the Etihad in April, as Manchester City drew 0-0 with the Red Devils in the Premier League.

Spidercam is a state-of-the-art bit of kit that features a camera suspended from four wires attached to each of the corners of a stadium.

It has the ability to pan 360 degrees, zoom in and out, and capture stabilised images while moving at high speed to follow the action.

To ensure it doesn't disrupt play, it can never drop below 10 metres - meaning not even the 6ft 4in Zlatan Ibrahimovic can get anywhere near it.

The camera, which is operated manually, can also be elevated to the height of the stadium, meaning, in theory at least, it shouldn't even disrupt lofty goalkicks.

Manchester United go into the derby with bitter rivals City on the back of 3-1 win over Arsenal in the Premier League and 2-1 victory over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.

The Citizens - who are in European action against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night - meanwhile go into the game in equally formidable form.

They've consecutively won their last 20 matches in all competitions (one of which was on penalties after drawing 0-0 with Wolves in the Carabao Cup).
