Paul Pogba was spotted attempting to explain his brutal challenge on Hector Bellerin to his teammate Olivier Giroud after Arsenal's defeat to Manchester United this weekend.

The Frenchman went into a 50/50 challenge with the Spaniard, who came off second best as momentum took Pogba forward.

Replays showed the Red Devils midfielder trampled on Bellerin's calf, a challenge which had referee Andre Marriner reaching for his red card.

Captured in the tunnel after the match, Pogba caught up with his France teammate Giroud to talk about the incident.

The conversation isn't audible, but the Man United midfielder is clearly seen bending his leg in the same position Bellerin's leg was in when he trampled it.

He appears to be explaining that there was no malice in the challenge, and that causing the right-back harm was merely accidental.

Speaking about the red card after the game, Mourinho said: "I did not see it.

"I was not even looking in that direction, no television yet for me, I just know that Paul is frustrated, a bit disappointed with his colleague [Laurent] Koscielny for this kind of reaction.

"But Paul is very frustrated because everyone knows Paul is a clean player and was not his intention at all to be close to a red card."
