Paul Pogba has revealed the two Manchester United players who have had the biggest impact on his Old Trafford career.

The midfielder is in his second stint at the club, following his four-year spell at Juventus and credits Michael Carrick and Paul Scholes as the two players he looks up to the most.

Pogba re-joined the club last summer for a then-world record fee of £89million and has now been handed the responsibility of taking up the mantle from his predecessors in central midfield.

“I've learned from Paul Scholes and Michael,” Pogba told the Manchester United programme.

I'm still learning from Michael. He is an example for me and I always look at him in training.

“I listen to his advice - every time, before a game, he comes to talk to me and he will ask me things and keep me calm.

“To be honest, he is a mentor to me and someone I look up to.”

Carrick was handed a year-long contract extension at Old Trafford in the summer, while Paul Scholes made his last appearance for the club in 2013, after soon coming out of his 2011 retirement, during which time Pogba was at the club.

“Scholesy may not be here anymore but when I was younger I was looking at him a lot as a midfielder,” Pogba added.

“To come on for him in his testimonial as a young player was a dream come true.”
