Rio Ferdinand has provided an insight into his gruelling boxing training regime with a video posted online.

The former Manchester United centre-back, who is taking up the sport two years after retiring from football, is seen performing bear crawls with weights.

He posted the clip to his Instagram page, updating his followers on the progress he has been making since announcing the news.

Ferdinand, who now works as a pundit with BT Sport, was recently contacted by former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

He responded to Ferdinand's comment that he has won Premier League titles with Manchester United, but is now looking to win a belt.

"Looking forward to seeing this," tweeted Fury. "From football star to boxing star, if you need any tips on being a bad a** call me. Good luck."

And Tyson isn't the only professional boxer Ferdinand has been conversing with in recent weeks. The 38-year-old has plans to spar with Britain's heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua.

"We were on a plane together and he offered to help me," said Ferdinand. "He invited me to the gym for sparring. He's the only one I've spoken to about it, I told him before it was announced.

"He said, 'You've got a good reach, man, you'll be able to keep people off! I had one of the best nights in a sports arena, outside of playing, when I saw him fight Wladimir Klitschko.

"Carl Froch has also offered to come in and give me a bit of knowledge here and there, which will be welcomed."
