With seven goals in his first seven matches, Romelu Lukaku is having the best start to a United career of any striker since Andy Cole.

Like Lukaku, Cole aso scored seven goals in his first seven games with United.

However, while Lukaku’s goals have been well spread out, only failing to score in one game, Cole’s were anything but.

The then record British signing only scored two goals in his first six matches before bagging five in his seventh game for the club - United’s 9-0 demolition of Ipswich Town on March 4, 1995.

Cole and Lukaku have the best records over their first seven matches of any United striker signed in the Premier League era.

Five United forwards managed to score five goals in their first seven games - Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robin van Persie, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Louis Saha and Dimitar Berbatov.

There are also forwards who scored four goals in their first seven games - Wayne Rooney, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Marcus Rashford, Eric Cantona, Dwight Yorke and Anthony Martial.
