Roy Keane believes Manchester United will challenge for the Premier League and Champions League this season.

The Red Devils have started the season in excellent form, winning eight of their nine matches in all competitions so far.

They thrashed CSKA Moscow 4-0 on Wednesday night as Romelu Lukaku added another two goals to his impressive tally.

And Keane , who captained United to great success, believes they are finally ready to compete with the very best again.

"United are back. They look like they will compete to win the big trophies," he said on ITV.

"Over the last few years, you are thinking they might win a League Cup and the lesser trophies.

"But they are back competing and you expect them to be in the latter stages of the Champions League and winning the Premier League."

Keane also heaped praise on Lukaku, who now has 10 goals in nine games since arriving from Everton.

"He was a bargain at £75million, it was obvious he was going to score goals," he added.

"The big test will be in the big games. For all top United strikers over the years, has been scoring the big goals in the big games."
