Arsenal fans could be celebrating one of their best ever summers in the transfer market as majority shareholder Stan Kroenke looks set to splash mega cash on big name players.

Supporters have been calling for a number of years for the Gunners to compete with their major rivals and spend big money to attract the best players to the north London club as they look to challenge for the title once again.

French superstar Alexandre Lacazette looks set to be the first big arrival at Emirates Stadium this summer when he completes a club-record fee, while the club are also willing to smash the world transfer record fee to sign teenage superstar Kylian Mbappe from Monaco.

And according to football.london that's not it.

Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez are another two players linked with a move to north London, while there could also be another couple of arrivals before the new season gets underway.

However, it’s not just at Arsenal where Kroenke is splashing the cash.

The American businessman owns a number of teams in his home country, including MLS side Colorado Rapids and NHL team Colorado Avalanche.

But it is his Denver Nuggets side who yesterday grabbed the attention in the NBA after signing free agent forward Paul Millsap.

People may turn their nose up at the fact that the he was a free agent, but the price to bring the former Atlanta Hawks All-Star to Colorado is eye-watering.

Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns were both keen on the player, but it was the Nuggets who reached an agreement on a three-year, $90million deal for the 32-year-old.

The Nuggets have been desperate to add a star player to their side for some years now and Kroenke’s team finally have their man.

Millsap will now be one of the highest-paid players in the NBA and the Denver Post said that the Nuggets “landed one of the most significant free agents in franchise history.”

Kroenke’s sides have struggled in the past few years but now it seems he is intent on seeing them all progress.

The Nuggets spending big suggests that the businessman is also prepared to finally let Wenger spend a large amount in the transfer market with the Gunners.

Millsap is seen as the player who can help the good times return to the Nuggets after years of struggle.

Perhaps Kroenke is hoping the potential arrivals of Mbappe and Lacazette can have the same effect at Arsenal.
