Marcos Alonso has recalled the time he bumped into 50 Arsenal fans in the street while walking home from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea had just played host to the Gunners, in a game that finished 0-0, and Alonso was in a rush to catch a flight, meaning he couldn't wait for the crowds to disperse.

Leaving the stadium to find a cab to take him to the airport, he found himself face to face with a large group of Arsenal fans.

Fortunately for the Spaniard, who admitted he did anticipate trouble, the fans were polite and merely pestered him for pictures.

"One time - but it is better to wait until they open the road and leave by car, because if not - the day of the Arsenal match I had to go to the airport, I couldn't wait and I went out to get a taxi," Alonso told AS.

"At first it was good because I was going with security, but when I turned the corner I found 50 Arsenal fans and I said to myself 'Ugh, there's going to be trouble'.

"But then I took pictures with them. The English fan is educated."

Alonso has made 21 appearances for Chelsea this season, including the Community Shield, and has netted three times.

His last match for the Blues was their 3-1 win over Newcastle. He was named on the bench for the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday but didn't come on.
