Manchester United are taking part in their latest pre-season friendly, with Marouane Fellaini starting in Oslo.

That comes despite increased speculation about his future, with the Belgian midfielder a target for Galatasaray and some reports suggested a deal had even been agreed.

Jose Mourinho has often refused to consider players for selection when they are on the brink of a transfer.

Nemanja Matic's imminent arrival at Old Trafford is likely to limit Fellaini's opportunities further.

Jose Mourinho insists Marouane Fellaini will not be leaving Manchester United for Galatasaray this summer

Jose Mourinho says Marouane Fellaini will not be leaving Manchester United this summer.

The Belgian midfielder was strongly linked with a move to Galatasaray, with the Turkish side’s sporting director Cenk Ergun revealing he was in negotiations over a move.

But Fellaini was named in the starting line-up for United’s friendly against Valerenga on Saturday evening and would score the opening goal in their 3-0 win.

Following the game Mourinho admitted that the 29-year-old is too important to him to let go.

“It’s easier for Galatasaray to get me than Marouane,” Mourinho said following the game in Oslo.

“He is too important to me. No chance.”

Jose Mourinho refuses to rule out Nemanja Matic deal as he insists Chelsea midfielder 'wants to move'

Jose Mourinho has refused to rule out a move for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic - and hinted the ‘photoshoped’ picture of the star was real.

Manchester United are confident of closing in on the Serbian international and are expected to complete a switch this week.

The Red Devils are hoping to sign the two-time Premier League winner for £50m - with the Blues reluctantly selling to former boss Mourinho.

Matic was pictured in a United training top on social media - with fans unsure if the image was real or a doctored image.

And Mourinho was unable to confirm the picture’s authenticity as he didn’t know if Matic had visited the training ground this weekend, but revealed the ace was keen on the move.

Mourinho said: “I’m waiting for news. I know that he wants the move very very much.

“I am satisfied, I think Ronny and his boys for the game they gave us, I also thank the referee. It was a good pitch.

“I couldn’t be at a better place, getting to watch Paul Pogba and Michael Carrick in my position and learning from them.

“It’s been great being on tour with the first-team, playing football for this club is the best feeling in the world.”

Lindelof reacts

“I think we played a really good match, we kept the ball well and it was a nice match for us.

Valerenga 0-3 Manchester United: Fellaini, Lukaku and McTominay net in Oslo stroll - 5 things we learned

Manchester United notched up a routine victory in their latest pre-season friendly as they saw off Valerenga 3-0 in Oslo.

After toiling for much of the first-half, the visitors took the lead just before break when Marouane Fellaini put recent transfer speculation behind him and headed the ball home.

New signing Romelu Lukaku was introduced as a half-time substitute and wasted no time in getting in on the action, forcing home a powerful header just two minutes after the interval.

A third was added with 20 minutes remaining when Scott McTominay scored his first senior goal for the club

Here’s what we learned from Oslo...

READ ALL 5 THINGS HERE

PEEEP

That is that.

Easy as you like for United.

Fellaini, Lukaku and McTominay the scorers.

Fizzling out

United are still well on top.

But their threat has waned - they are using this more as a keep ball exercise.

Up to the box and back to the half way line.

Last ditch block

No idea what the Valerenga keeper was trying here.

Very lax in passing straight to McTominay.

He shots towards goal and only a sliding defender prevents the goal.

Extremely close to 4-0.

Lukaku chance

Lukaku is on fire tonight.

Hr Belgian is too hot to handle.

He turns a defender and unleashes a drilled effort.

It doesn’t miss by much either.

More goals from him tonight you would think.

GOOOAAAAALLLL

McTominay makes it 3-0.

It is a first senior goal for the oungster.

Great power here to ward off the defender after Martial’s pass.

Finish was strong too.

Valerenga chance

Good chance for the hosts.

The ball rolls across the box and the striker skies it.

Should have hit the target then.

More United subs

Pogba and Romero are now gone.

It is now a completely different XI to the start.

Pereira and McTominay come on.

Pereira booked

He’s the man of the moment.

But this was not a nice tackle.

Pereira earns his place in the book with a scything tackle as an attack gets away from him.

Pereira's corner kicks

Interestingly Periera is pinging corners in with both feet.

The effect is to create inwingers from both flanks.

Interesting idea and worked for the goal.

Although his left footed effort failed to beat the first man as it bobbled badly.

United pressure

A lot more impetus after the break from United.

Lukaku seems to be everywhere.

The 3-5-2 formation has worked wonders.

That works out as: Romero, Lindelof, Smalling, Tuanzebe, Fosu-Mensah, Mitchell, Herrera, Pogba, Pereira, Martial, Lukaku.

GOOAAAALLL

LUKAKU!

It only took two minutes after the break for United to double their lead.

And it one of the subs.

Good corner to the near post and Lukaku nods in.

Utter power.

Just before there was good play by Anthony martial - another sub.

United subs

Here we go...

Actually it is easier to say who has stayed rather than who has come on.

Only Romero and Pogba have remained.

PEEEP

Off and running again.

Loads of subs.

I will catch you up with them asap.

Fellaini goal

Here is Fellaini’s towering header.

Will it stop the move to Galatasaray?

Probably not, but still proving his worth.

HALF-TIME: Valerenga 0-1 Manchester United

And that Fellaini goal was the final action of the opening 45 minutes.

Looking back at the goal, it’s not going to appear on the Belgian’s highlight reel, as it deflected off a defender into the back of the net, but they all count.

He knew it too, as he didn’t go too over the top with his celebrations.

Now what does this mean for all these transfer rumours, eh?

I’m enjoying this tweet by the way - ‘towering’ is a stretch, to say the least.

GOAL! Valerenga 0-1 Manchester United (Fellaini)

It had to be him, didn’t it?

Marouane Fellaini heads puts all that transfer speculation behind him by heading the Red Devils in front.

The Belgian was inside the six-yard box when he got on the end of a Mykhitaryan cross to open the scoring just before the break.

Blind goes close

Blind is the next man to have a go at goal as he looks to flick on a Mkhitaryan cross, but it flashes just wide of the goal.

This is the sort of game that Romelu Lukaku has been signed for.

Now Rashford has taken a knock

It’s raining in Oslo, so the United players should at least feel at home.

This game isn’t turning into a instant classic, as the visitors fail to break down the Norwegian side.

Rashford has just come off worse in a challenge and has gone off to the sidelines for treatment.

Pogba the pick of the bunch

Paul Pogba is taking this game by the scruff of the neck and is the standout players during the opening half-hour.

He’s looking to get forward whenever he can and has had number of chances on goal.

Valerenga appear to be going for a bend-not-break tactic.

Here’s the moment that will have worried United fans...

Mkhitaryan appears to be ok

Panic over United fans, as Mkhitaryan is back on and running around.

Mata is now trying to make things happen, playing a superb ball out to Blind, who cannot do anything with it, before Pogba has another go, but his curled effort is claimed by the goalkeeper.

Rashford then has a go, as United continue to press.

Mkhitaryan down injured

Bad news for Manchester United as Mkhitaryan is down injured.

He suffered a clash of knees and landed awkwardly and is now punching the ground.

He receives treatment, but is eventually able to get up and leave the pitch of his own accord.

You’d imagine Mourinho will be extremely careful here.

More pressure from the Red Devils

More pressure from United, as they win a corner.

Mykhitaryan steps up, but his effort is easily cleared by the hosts, who look to respond on the counter. Nothing comes of it.

Pogba and Mata just tried some silky link-up play and just about get away with it.

Pogba hits the bar

Not a blistering first ten minutes here, by any stretch of the imagination.

Rashford has been busy up top, but has very little to show for his labouring.

But the Red Devils have won a free-kick in a dangerous position, but Pogba fires into the wall.

The ball bounces around the area and the Frenchman gets another bite of the cherry and hits the bar.

Blind struggling

Fellaini may be starting well, but Daley Blind hasn’t.

The Dutchman has looked very tentative in the tackle, needing his midfield partner Fellaini to mop up alongside him.

And he’s also been sloppy with possession, passing the ball out of play.
