Wayne Rooney proudly showed off his wedding ring as he arrived for Everton training on Wednesday.

The striker was charged with drink-driving in the early hours of Friday morning after a 10-hour binge in Cheshire.

He was stopped by police at the wheel of a VW Beetle belonging to 29-year-old Laura Simpson, who he had meet at The Bubble Rooms.

His pregnant wife Coleen was away on holiday with his three young sons at the time.

Rooney held showdown talks with boss Ronald Koeman upon his return to training this week, ahead of Everton's match with Tottenham on Saturday.

It is understood the former England captain could face a fine of up to £320,000 as a consequence of his behaviour.

Koeman brought Rooney to Goodison Park in the summer and will take a dim view of the former England captain bringing the club into disrepute.

He will also threaten to dump Rooney on the transfer list if he steps out of line again.

The Dutchman had concerns over Rooney’s drinking habits and in a frank discussion prior to Rooney putting pen to paper. Koeman, a strict disciplinarian, demanded there would be no more booze-fuelled antics.

He wanted Rooney to act as a mentor to the club’s young players and not be a bad influence with his off the field high jinks.

Rooney looked unshaven as he arrived at Finch Farm on Wednesday after Coleen appeared to deny reports she will give him another chance.

The latest reports say that she's going to give her husband 'one last chance' after his law-breaking shame and Laura Simpson's explosive revelations.

But Coleen appears to be denying that that's the case after taking to Twitter to suggest the 'friends' being quoted either don't exist or don't know her at all.

She posted: "Would love to meet all these so called friends who know me so well".
