Predicted line-ups

Ones to watch

Wesley Sneijder: The Holland playmaker is 30 but still has so much quality as he showed yet again during the World Cup.

Goran Pandev: Signed a two-year contract in the summer, still a threat up front.

Alex Telles: An attacking Brazilian left-back who could be up against dangerous Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez. Sure to be a key battle tonight.

Previous meetings

1999/00:

  • Arsenal 0-0 Galatasaray (1-4 pens) (UEFA Cup final)

Who's saying what?

Arsene Wenger: "For the rest, Champions League evolution, maybe it was more open 15 years ago than it is today. The concentration of the big players in a small number of clubs is much more than it was before. It’s much more predictable, the outcome of the Champions League, than it was 10 years ago. It’s harder to win it. If you make a poll tomorrow and say to people “Give me four clubs who will win the Champions League”, 80 or 90 per cent of people will say they are these four clubs. I don’t think that we are one of the four who will be favourites to win it, but football is strange and not always predictable."

Cesare Prandelli: "We are playing against a quality, experienced team at their own ground, and so will have to be a bit more controlled in our game. We should be running enough to close all of the gaps and we should play our own game. We will make sure whenever we lose the ball, we will get it back quicker. We have to be brave, to be courageous and make sure we play our own style. For us, it is important to get out as a team, to defend strong. We must have respect, that is important, but not be afraid. We have a good team, we can play against every team and it is going to be in our hands."
