Manchester United fans were delighted with Luke Shaw's performance in their 1-0 win over Bournemouth on Wednesday.

And as a result were angry at the way in which he has been treated by Jose Mourinho over the past few months.

The left-back had the world ahead of him when he joined Manchester United back in 2014 for a whopping £27million.

But has found regular game time increasingly hard to come by under Red Devils boss Mourinho, who questioned his fitness last season.

Shaw started his first Premier League game of this campaign against the Cherries, and came close to justifying his price tag.

Discussing Shaw after the game, Mourinho said: "I'm not saying first or second choice, he's an option.

His history is an incredible injury and more surgery at the end of last season.

"He needs competitive matches, we gave him that and he had some cramps so we had to change him. The standing ovation for him I liked, it helps the player."

Shaw later took to Instagram to post a picture of him and Mourinho.

Writing alongside the image, he said: "Tough game but we got the 3 points! Thanks everyone for the support."

It would appear all has been forgiven between the pair, but Red Devils supporters are apparently harder to win around.

Many are frustrated that the left-back, who demonstrated he has the ability to be a first team starter, has been frozen out of the team.

And they've taken to social media to take aim at Mourinho.

One fan wrote that it was nice to see the left-back returned to the starting XI, while another suggested Mourinho needs play Shaw more often.
