Here are today's Gunners stories from the Daily Mirror...

Cazorla agrees to Atletico switch?

Santi Cazorla has agreed terms on a return to Spain with Atletico Madrid, according to reports on Spanish radio.

Cazorla captained Arsenal for Sunday's FA Cup tie with Middlesbrough at the Emirates Stadium, and has been in his best form since arriving in London back in 2012.

But radio station Cadena Cope has reported that Atleti are already discussing a possible summer move with Arsenal, and that the midfielder has agreed his personal terms.

The 30-year-old began his career with Villarreal, where he caught the eye of Malaga back in 2011.

He joined Arsenal after just one season on the Costa del Sol, and has established himself as a fans' favourite in north London.

The Gunners have been linked with a Bosman move for James Milner, while the emergence of Francis Coquelin could mean excessive competition for places in the Arsenal squad.

Wenger praises Giroud after FA Cup brace

Arsene Wenger singled out Olivier Giroud for individual praise after he netted both goals in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.

The Frenchman scored twice in three first-half minutes to seal the Gunners' progression into the last eight of the FA Cup.

"Olivier Giroud was very sharp. He has improved a lot compared to the player he was when we he arrived here," Wenger said.

"He is mobile, technically good, and he works with great focus in training. He has become a top player."

The Gunners boss also praised his side's overall performance as they made Manchester City's tormentors look ordinary at the Emirates.

"We started well with a good pace and we controlled the game well with our movement and technical quality," Wenger added.

"We had good team focus overall, we maybe lost our cohesion a little bit at 2-0 but I am happy. Overall we were serious and focused over the whole game."

CROSS: Red-hot Giroud catches the eye

Olivier Giroud proved he is not just a pretty face.

Arsenal’s red-hot striker was voted the “hottest Premier League player” in a bookmakers’ poll this week.

And Giroud yesterday produced a centre-forward’s performance of great beauty to have the football purists singing his praises as well. His goals, movement and flick-ons were magnificent.

Giroud’s quick-fire brace ensured the FA Cup holders would not be the victims of an upset on another weekend of shocks, especially as Middlesbrough knocked out Manchester City in the last round.

But they also highlighted why Giroud is one of the most effective strikers in the Premier League as he is a throwback to a golden age of classic No9s.

Arsenal will outbid rivals Manchester United to seal the signature of Barcelona full-back Dani Alves, according to Metro.

Brazilian Alves is out of contract at the Camp Nou at the end of the campaign and, with no new contract offer seemingly forthcoming, he looks set to leave the Catalan club.

The Gunners will offer Alves more money than United are willing to, which is likely to make the 31-year-old's mind up for him.

Alves is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club whenever he pleases.

Arsenal enquire over Rakitic

The Gunners have spoken to Barcelona over the availability of midfielder Ivan Rakitic, according to reports in the Spanish press.

Daily newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims Arsenal and Manchester City are both interested in the Croat.

Rakitic only joined the Catalan giants in the summer and has been a regular under boss Luis Enrique.
