Arsenal are ready to fight Liverpool in the battle to sign in-demand Brazilian Luan.

Gremio hit man Luan quit football eight years ago as he attempted to make a career as a futsal ace, according to the Sun.

But he returned to football and is seen as the next south American to follow Gabriel Jesus and Neymar to Europe - with a host of club desperate to bag him.

Luan would be available for around £30m with Gremio rejecting a bid of £17m from Russian side Spartak Moscow last summer.

Luan has one international cap and recently helped his club to the final of the Copa Libertadores with a brace - which took him to 16 goals this season.

Manchester United are reportedly going head to head with Arsenal for young Barcelona forward Jose Arnaiz.

The 22-year-old has earned rave reviews for his exploits for the Catalan club's second string and made his first-team debut in the Copa del Ray clash against Murcia in midweek.

Arnaiz marked his first outing with a well-taken goal as Barcelona advanced to the last 16 with a 3-0 win.

The forward moved to the Nou Camp in the summer in a £2.1million switch from Valladolid, penning a three-year deal.
