Arsenal have reportedly opened talks with Dynamo Kiev ahead of a potential swoop for Andriy Yarmolenko.

The winger is valued at £20.5million by the Ukrainian club according to Portuguese outlet A Bola.

Yarmolenko has scored 13 goals racked up eight assists for Kiev this season.

Arsenal sealed their first January signing on Thursday, with midfielder Mohamed Elneny finally completing his move to the Emirates.

Gunners legend pleased with Elneny signing

Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas says he was screaming out for Arsenal to sign a player like Mohamed Elneny.

The 23-year-old joined the Gunners from FC Basel this week and Nicholas believes he is the hard-hitting midfielder the club have been lacking in recent years.

“Elneny is a perfect fit for Arsenal and someone I’ve been screaming out for,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.

“At the start of the season Arsenal needed two positions filling, goalkeeper and a holding midfielder. They signed Petr Cech but never filled the other position, which was a bit of a mistake for me.

“Coquelin is robust and competitive and gets booked a lot, Mikel Arteta is not the player he was and Mathieu Flamini has done really well but he’s too similar to Arteta. Eleneny fills that void."

Sanchez could be risked against Stoke

Arsene Wenger admits he is considering taking a “gamble” on Alexis Sanchez’s fitness for Sunday’s trip to Stoke.

Arsenal forward Sanchez has been out for the past six weeks with a hamstring injury but is back in full training and wants to be in the squad.

Gunners boss Wenger said: “He (Sanchez) is available for selection, I haven’t decided yet. I have to see how everyone has recovered. Apparently we have no injuries form the Liverpool game, so he is a possibility to be in the squad for Sunday.

“The other question mark is about Alexis, he has two decisive days - today and tomorrow. he is fit, has worked very hard and the decision we have to take is whether to take a gamble or not on his injury.”

Wenger upset following abuse last season

Arsene Wenger was left "sad and upset" after being abused by Arsenal fans - and warned it will get worse in the future.

Arsenal fans turned on Wenger and his players at Stoke railway station last season after suffering a defeat and the Gunners boss claims clubs may have to change their travel plans in future.

Wenger , whose squad will take the train again to the Britannia on Sunday, said: "I didn't take it [personally]. I was sad and upset more by the result than by the individual reactions of people, which I can understand.

"When you love a club, you want the results to be positive. It's a more common thing now and I believe it will be a problem in the coming years.

"You don't want to be isolated too much because you want contact with people who love the club, you want contact with the fans.

"But I see it in France, especially now in the last two or three weeks, many problems occurred with disappointing results on that front."

Wenger: Real Madrid's ban will be overturned

Arsene Wenger has dismissed the suggestion that Real Madrid will be prevented from signing players this summer, writes MirrorFootball's Hamish Mackay.

The Spanish giants, along with rivals Atletico Madrid, have been hit with a transfer ban that will come into effect in June, and still be in place next January.

That led many to claim Real Madrid will go on a spending spree while they are still able to register new signings.

Arsenal's manager, though, believes the ban will be overturned easily.

"I thought that [they would sign players now] at first when I heard the news," said Wenger. "[But] they will appeal, they will cancel the ban and they will be allowed to buy in the next two transfer windows.

"That’s what will happen.”

Giroud: Elneny is the complete player

Olivier Giroud believes new Arsenal signing Mohamed Elneny is "a complete player," writes MirrorFootball's Joe Mewis.

Elneny completed his move to the Emirates from Swiss side FC Basel on Thursday and has already made a good impression in training, according to the French striker.

“I’ve trained with him and he’s a good player, very talented but first of all he is a good guy - I think he will settle well into the team,” Giroud told www.arsenal.com.

“I think he’s basically a box-to-box midfielder, so he can attack and defend, run a lot and has good power and technique. He is quite a complete player.

“It always takes time to adapt to English football because there is a lot of intensity, it is very physical and even tactically [you must get used to it] - but I think Premier League football will suit him well.”
