Alexis Sanchez is Juventus' No 1 transfer target for the summer, according to reports.

Football Italia say the Italian champions will swoop for Chilean Sanchez if he doesn't extend his contract at the Emirates.

Sanchez's current deal expires in the summer of 2018 and he is said to be growing frustrated at Arsenal's failure to win major trophies.

A move to the Chinese Super League is reportedly on the table but Sanchez would prefer to remain playing at the top level in Europe.

Arsenal have joined the race to sign Steven N'Zonzi from Sevilla, the Daily Express claim.

N'Zonzi, 28, reportedly wants to leave the Spanish club this month, with Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester City all interested in his services.

Sevilla are just four points off La Liga leaders Barcelona but expect N'Zonzi to depart and are likely to listen to offers over £25million for the former Stoke and Blackburn man.

Dortmund eye Zelalem

Arsenal youngster Gedion Zelalem is a target for Borussia Dortmund, writes Tom Hopkinson.

The German giants will try to land the gifted 19-year-old, who was born in Berlin to Ethiopian parents, this month.

Zelalem, who has represented both Germany and the United States at youth level, was tipped for great things when he was on the fringes of the Gunners' first team aged 16 – but he is now frustrated at a lack of opportunities.

He spent last season on loan in the Scottish second tier with Rangers.

Arsenal's England midfielder Jack Wilshere said of him: “He sees passes that not a lot of players can and he’s so comfortable on the ball.”

Wenger: Everton and City defeats left me desperate

Arsene Wenger has revealed he was left feeling "desperate" after Arsenal suffered back-to-back defeats to Everton and Manchester City earlier in December, writes Liam Corless.

The Gunners led in both games but ended up with zero points from a possible six and lost ground on Chelsea in the title race.

Wenger admitted the defeat to City hurt the most and said both Leroy Sane's and Raheem Sterling's goals should have been disallowed for offside.

"I was absolutely desperate after these two games," Wenger told Sky Sports.

"We lost under very special circumstances as well, you know. It's the first time in 20 years that I lose a game with two offside goals of that stature. On top of that we were 1-0 up in both games, we had the chances to score the second goal and third goal.

"We had to analyse and make our own criticisms, and come back with more urgency defensively, because we gave two easy goals away."

Wenger hails Xhaka improvement

Arsene Wenger has backed Granit Xhaka because he has improved with his defensive responsbilities, writes Aaron Flanagan.

Swiss midfielder Xhaka has started the last six Premier League games after initially struggling to adapt to life in north London.

Xhaka's opportunities have largely come due to the absence of Santi Cazorla, who is out of action after undergoing surgery.

But Wenger has been impressed with his performances - and says he will keep his place in the team if he remains focused.

Speaking to Arsenal Player, Wenger said: “I believe he is on the way up, he is a much more intense player today, a much more complete player because he contributes a lot defensively as well – that’s what I did not see at the start.

“He made some outstanding passes [against West Brom], his finishing still has some room for improvement but he has it in his locker.

"I just want him to focus on being strong defensively, and give the quality of his pass to the team and the rest will come along."
