Arsenal will make a shock swoop for Swansea captain Ashley Williams in a bid to bolster their back-line, according to the Sunday Express.

The Wales skipper is reportedly the 'leader' that Arsene Wenger believes his side is currently missing.

Williams, who has been instrumental to Swansea's rise, is allegedly set to be the subject of a £20million offer this summer.

It is believed that the 31-year-old will be sold by Swansea given his age should they receive a sizable offer.

Guardiola to swoop for Wilshere AND Sanchez

Wilshere, Sanchez and Rose are all on Guardiola's shopping list

Pep Guardiola is planning a double raid on Arsenal for Jack Wilshere AND Alexis Sanchez, writes Mirror Football's Simon Mullock.

The incoming Manchester City boss wants to build his midfield around Gunners playmaker Wilshere and also covets their brilliant Chilean forward Sanchez .

Sunday Mirror Sport understands that Tottenham left-back Danny Rose is also on City’s radar, as the Etihad club look to boost their quota of ‘homegrown’ players to meet UEFA regulations.

Wilshere has endured another season ravaged by injury and is hoping that he has done enough to be included in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the Euros that will be named on Monday.

But Guardiola - who led Bayern Munich for the final time on Saturday before his summer move to England - is a long-term admirer, and City were also weighing up a bid for the £40million-rated 24-year-old this time last year .

Departing Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini could remain in the Premier League this summer, according to the Daily Star Sunday.

It is thought that Middlesbrough want the experienced Frenchman in the centre of their midfield as they return to the top flight for the first time since 2009.

A source reportedly said: “At only 32, Matty has plenty of life left in his legs and would be an asset for Boro going into the Premier League.

“It’s not a financial decision for Matty – his business is booming and he’ll soon be in the super rich bracket.”

Wenger NOT happy with top four every season

Arsene Wenger dismissed any suggestion that he is content with a top-four finish in the Premier League – and that defeat hurts now more than at any time in his managerial career, writes Mirror Football's Steve Stammers.

There is a perception that a place to ensure Champions League football satisfies Arsenal boss Wenger.

But ahead of this season’s finale against Aston Villa at the Emirates on Sunday, he made it clear that, rather than a season of success at the guarantee of at least a third-place finish (if they do not lose to already-relegated Villa), it has been one of irritation.

“You do not do as much work as I do to be happy with a top-four finish,” said Frenchman Wenger . “I am like everybody – frustrated.”

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is in line to start for England when they begin their European Championship campaign against Russia next month, writes Mirror Football's John Cross.

Injury-plagued Wilshere hasn't featured for the Three Lions for nearly a year and only returned to action last month for the Gunners.

Wilshere continued his comeback by playing 65 minutes in last Sunday's 2-2 draw with Manchester City , and the Gunners star was enjoying good form at the base of Roy Hodgson's midfield prior to injury last summer.

However, the run-out against City was just his second appearance of the campaign for Arsene Wenger's side , leaving him with an uphill task of proving both fitness and form to Hodgson ahead of next month's tournament in France.

Arsenal players prepare to final day showdown

Arsenal are gearing up for a final day showdown with Aston Villa as they bid to leapfrog rivals Tottenham into second place, writes Mirror Football's Aaron Flanagan.

Spurs are in prime position to take the runners-up spot and ensure that they finish above the Gunners for the first time in 21 years.

It would bring to a close a disappointing season for Arsenal , with many believing that it was their best chance in a decade to win the title.

During Saturday's training session, Arsenal's stars appeared to be in good spirits ahead of the final game of the season.

The players were put through their paces for the final time before summer breaks and European Championship excursions.

Arsenal win Women's FA Cup

Arsenal Ladies won the SSE Women's FA Cup for a 14th time after beating Chelsea Ladies 1-0 in a close-fought game at Wembley, report the Press Association.

Danielle Carter's superb first-half strike was enough to secure the victory over the defending champions in front of a competition-record crowd of 32,912.

Chelsea struggled to get into the game in the first half but missed chances from the Gunners and a strong second half kept the Blues in the game until the final whistle.

Despite winning four straight games in the Women's Super League, Chelsea looked nervous and struggled to get the ball out of their half in the opening minutes. And after 18 minutes the breakthrough came from Carter, who had started the game well.

The 22-year-old forward skipped past Hannah Blundell on the left corner of the penalty area before curling a shot beyond Hedvig Lindahl.
