Arsenal will not sell either Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez in January, according to manager Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners’ star duo are both entering the final six months of their contracts at the Emirates, and there has been no breakthrough in contract talks with either.

As such, the opening of the transfer window represents Arsenal’s final chance to recoup a transfer fee for either.

Sanchez is wanted by Manchester City - who saw a £60million deadline day offer rejected in August - while a number of European clubs are monitoring his situation.

World Cup winner Ozil has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Barcelona.

However Wenger has continued to insist that he has no intention of parting with either in January.

And asked on Tuesday whether they would still be at the club on February 1, Wenger responded: “Yes. Of course.

"I rule it out. I don’t think every day about it. As long as they [Sanchez and Ozil] are here, they have to give their all for the club.

"In my head, they are here until the end of the season. That was the decision at the start of the season. Unless something incredible happens, I don’t think that will change.

"For me, they stay until the end of the season. Will they stay longer? That is impossible to answer today. But they have a contract until the end of the season."

Quizzed on whether the pair would extend their deals and still be at the north London club next season, the Frenchman said: “I am not the only one who decides that.”

Wenger also believes that Jack Wilshere should stay at the club, rather than seek a January move.

Wilshere has been a regular in the Europa League but is yet to start a league game, playing just 48 minutes over three appearances thus far.

“When he is fit, he is considered like everybody else. He is at that level now.

“I always considered his interests because he has been an Arsenal player since a kid. My first priority is what is best for him. I have to consider the interests of Jack Wilshere and Arsenal.

"If I think his best interest is to stay here I will absolutely fight 100 percent for him to stay here. He's top qualiity."
