Everton are set to beat Arsenal to the signing of Nigerian starlet Henry Onyekuru.

The 20-year-old was the top scorer in Belgium last term and has attracted interest from the Emirates.

West Ham were also keen on the KAS Eupen striker but Everton have beaten them to the transfer.

Oneykuru completed a medical at Goodison Park on Monday evening with the transfer set to go through when the window officially opens this weekend.

He is set to cost the club around £7million as Ronald Koeman continues his summer spending - and will spend next season on loan with Anderlecht.

Earlier this summer, Onyekuru insisted he would only move to a club where he would play regularly.

“The first and most important thing for a player is to get playing time," he said.

"I’m still young and I still have a long career to pursue but now I need to play. It’s not just about going to a big club and sitting on the bench."
