Ronald Koeman will this week step up his interest in Olivier Giroud.

The Arsenal striker is the number one target on the Dutchman’s hit-list as Everton look to add the final pieces of their summer transfer jigsaw.

The France international wants to see where he stands at the Emirates before deciding on his next port of call.

But Koeman is in the market for a targetman – and Giroud is the one at the top of his list – and he needs an answer as to whether the Gunners frontman will join in a £25million deal.

The former Barcelona star admitted this week he expects three new faces before the season gets under way in a fortnight’s time.

One of those will be Gylfi Sigurdsson – as exclusively revealed in Sunday People Sport three weeks ago – and Giroud is the second part of his master plan.

The final new face is likely to be cover for Leighton Baines at left-back.
