Besiktas have confirmed their desire to sign Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Despite recent praise from manager Jose Mourinho, Fellaini has been linked with the Old Trafford exit.

The Belgian international's current deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season, leaving him free to speak to European clubs in January.

And now Besiktas official Metin Albayrak has admitted that the Turkish champions have made an approach for Fellaini as one potential signing.

Speaking to Turkish-Football, Albayrak said: "Fellaini is on our list, we have made efforts to sign him but not just him.

"He is not the only player we scouted, our scouting team watched 20 games live this week.

"We are keeping tabs on several players."

Fellaini, 29, was one of the few players to come out of Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea with a glowing review from United boss Mourinho.

The loss saw United drop eight points off the pace in the Premier League, without a win in their past three outings away from home domestically.

"I have to say Fellaini was fantastic, for me, for the fellow players, for the fans, for the team, for the club," Mourinho told reporters.

"He was injured for weeks, he trained yesterday for the first time with the team and he put himself on the line ready to come into help in case of the team needed.

"So really, really pleased, I don’t want it to go in blank [unnoticed]."
